Part 1
The Hook: A Proposal, a Test, and a Room Full of Lies
Cut to: a woman saying no. Not to a date. Not to a dance. To a marriage proposal. On national television. That's the cold open. That's the hook. And it lands like a slap.
The woman is Tisha. The man on one knee is Marcus. The show is The Mari Show, 2024. The host is Mari. The format is simple: confrontations, lie detector results, surprise guests. The result is chaos.
Marcus asks. Tisha answers. 'I'm not going to accept your proposal until you pass this test.' Beat. The audience gasps. The lie detector is already humming.
Why? Because Tisha believes Marcus slept with her sister, Chelsea. Before they got together. And maybe still. Chelsea lives three doors down. Three doors. That's not a coincidence. That's a setup.
Marcus denies everything. Chelsea denies everything. But the lie detector doesn't care about denials. It cares about sweat. Pulse. Breathing. And in this episode, every answer lands like a plot twist.
Let's rewind. Two years. That's how long Tisha and Marcus have been together. Two years of love. Two years of trust. Then Marcus drops a bomb. 'Before I met you, I slept with your sister.'
Tisha's reaction? 'Why the hell did you tell me then and not three weeks ago?' Good question. Timing is everything. And Marcus's timing stinks.
Chelsea's response? 'I have never slept with this guy. I never see him until you introduce me to him.' Denial. Flat. Firm. But Tisha doesn't buy it.
Why? Because Chelsea lives three doors down. Marcus is always finding excuses. 'I'm going to help her fix this. I'm going to help her fix that.' Tisha calls it: 'Are you her personal handyman or what?'
And there's more. Tisha suspects Marcus is sleeping with his general manager. He gets off at 11. Comes home at 4 a.m. Smells like perfume and soap. She found condoms in his wallet. 'We don't even use them.'
Cut to backstage. Tisha's crying. Marcus is pacing. Mari is watching. The lie detector is waiting. This is not a love story. This is a thriller.
Marcus comes out. 'I never cheated on you. I loved you. I love you.' Tisha fires back: 'You told me that you never cheated on you. I'm tired of you.' Grammar breaks. So does trust.
Mari asks Marcus: 'You love this woman?' Marcus: 'I love her to death.' Mari: 'You want to propose to her?' Marcus: 'Yes, Mari. I do.' But Tisha already said no. The proposal is dead on arrival.
Marcus pleads: 'That's why I'm here today to prove that I'm going to pass this test in fine colors.' Fine colors. That's a new one. But the stakes are clear: pass, and maybe Tisha says yes. Fail, and it's over.
What happened between you and her sister? Marcus: 'We had a one time affair, Mari. That was it. This is way before we even met.' Chelsea says nothing happened. Marcus says one time. Tisha says ongoing. Three versions. One truth.
Chelsea's memory? Marcus claims she was intoxicated. 'She don't remember.' That's convenient. That's also a red flag. If she doesn't remember, how can she deny? If she denies, does she remember? The logic eats itself.
Tisha's ultimatum: 'When that lie detector come back, I want you to get on your knees and say you sorry.' That's not a request. That's a sentence. And the judge is a machine.
The condom. Mari asks. Marcus: 'I keep a condom for safekeeping, Mari. Anybody can ask.' Safekeeping. For what? A rainy day? A rainy sister? The excuse is as thin as the wrapper.
Then Mari drops the hammer: 'We've heard Chelsea's response. We're now going to meet her in person.' Surprise guest. The room tightens. Chelsea walks out. The sister. The accused. The accuser's blood.
Chelsea's entrance? 'You don't know me.' Tisha's reaction? 'You're lying. You're a compulsive liar.' Sisters. Family. War.
Mari asks Chelsea: 'Do you ever sleep with him?' Chelsea: 'No. I don't even know.' Tisha: 'That's a lie. She doesn't remember.' The contradictions pile up like cars on a foggy highway.
Chelsea admits: 'Did you tell my producers that you think Marcus would make a move on you if you let him?' Chelsea: 'Absolutely.' Wait. So she thinks he'd make a move, but she never slept with him? That's not innocence. That's a warning label.
Before the results, Mari plays a tape. 'Last night in the Mari Show offices. Marcus thought he was alone with another guest. But actually it was an undercover decoy.' Watch this. The screen flickers. Marcus's voice. 'That's not true. You're a liar.' But the tape doesn't lie. Or does it? The room gasps. Tisha: 'That's cheating.'
Now the lie detector. Chelsea first. Question: 'Did you sleep with Marcus during his relationship with Tisha?' Chelsea said no. Result: telling the truth. Chelsea celebrates: 'What I say? I have no reason to lie. You're my family.'

Next question: 'Did you sleep with Marcus before he was in a relationship with Tisha?' Chelsea said no. Result: lie. The room erupts. Tisha: 'Exactly.' Marcus: 'I never made no advances towards you.' But the machine already spoke.
Then: 'Has Marcus ever made a sexual advance towards you?' Chelsea said yes. Result: lie. Then: 'Did you ever make a sexual advance towards Marcus?' Chelsea said no. Result: lie. Then: 'Are you trying to sabotage your sister's relationship with Marcus?' Chelsea said no. Result: lie.
