Part 3

Steph isn’t buying it. “Write a book called My Sorry Lame Ass Excuses,” she says. And honestly? That’s a bestseller waiting to happen. She also points out that he hides his phone under his belly — “’cause it hangs over, you know? It hangs over.” The visual is brutal and hilarious all at once.

But here’s where the segment goes from messy to nuclear. Steph’s father, Stefan, takes the stage.

Now, if you’ve been following along, you know Stefan is the one who supposedly has evidence Patrick is a lying cheater. And he doesn’t disappoint. He tells Maury he set Patrick up at a strip club. He paid a friend’s daughter for VIP lap service. He wanted to see what Patrick would do when temptation was placed directly in his lap — literally.

And Patrick failed the test. Spectacularly.

But Stefan isn’t done. He drops another bomb: he once saw a woman’s head “bobbing for apples” in Patrick’s car at a car wash. I’ll let you sit with that image for a second. Bobbing for apples. At a car wash. In the hoe-go-getter.

At this point, the audience is in full meltdown mode. Maury is doing his best to keep the train on the tracks, but the train has already jumped the rails and is heading straight for a cliff.

And then there’s the cultural commentary. Steph compares herself to Hillary Clinton — the loyal wife standing by her man through scandal after scandal. But she draws the line: “I refuse to marry him and be like Hillary Clinton.” She also brings up Cardi B and Offset, saying she wanted to slap Offset for Cardi B. “I love Cardi B. And I hurt for her, because look at me.”

Maury, ever the pop culture savant, notes that Offset has to get back in Cardi’s good graces. It’s a weirdly perfect analogy. Because that’s exactly what Patrick is trying to do — except he’s doing it on national TV with an empty condom box and a pair of tiny bras as evidence.

And then there’s the line that ties it all together. Somewhere in the chaos, someone — maybe Maury, maybe Steph, maybe the ghost of Jerry Springer — invokes Donald Trump. The idea being: don’t believe anything you see or hear. Which is rich, considering we just saw the bras, the condoms, the sex toy, and the GPS tracker. If you can’t believe your own eyes, what can you believe?

Patrick, for his part, keeps insisting he’s a “big man” and a “hungry man.” He says he’d never jeopardize his family. But the evidence is stacking up like a Jenga tower in an earthquake. The bras. The car. The strip club setup. The bobbing for apples. The empty condom box.

And we haven’t even gotten to the lie detector yet.

If you’re new to Maury — or if you’ve been living under a rock since 1991 — the lie detector is the show’s version of a final boss. It’s not just a test. It’s a verdict. It’s the moment where the studio audience holds its breath, the camera zooms in, and Maury reads the results like he’s announcing the winner of a reality show where the prize is either freedom or a lifetime of regret.

Steph wants answers. Patrick wants to go home. And Stefan? Stefan wants justice for his daughter.

But before we get to the polygraph, let’s appreciate the sheer cinematic chaos of this segment. It’s like a Coen Brothers movie — Fargo meets Jerry Springer. Or maybe it’s more like a Safdie Brothers film — Uncut Gems energy, but with less Adam Sandler and more strip club VIP passes.

The bras are the MacGuffin. The hoe-go-getter is the getaway car. Stefan is the inside man. And Patrick? Patrick is the guy who thinks he can talk his way out of a burning building while holding a gas can.

You almost feel bad for him. Almost. But then you remember the empty condom box. And the sex toy. And the woman bobbing for apples at the car wash. And you realize: this isn’t a misunderstanding. This is a lifestyle. And Steph has been living in the middle of it for 12 years.

So what happens when the lie detector results come in? Does Patrick pass? Does he fail? Does Maury have to call security? You’ll have to wait for the next section. But I’ll tell you this: if you thought the bras were bad, you haven’t seen anything yet.

Because the truth? The truth is about to hit like a bus on the east side route.

The Lie Detector That Ended the Whole Thing

You know that moment when the whole room goes quiet, and then the polygraph results come back, and it's not just one lie—it's every single answer? That's where we are. Patrick is sitting there, still in his work clothes, still saying "I told you" like it's a magic spell. And Maury is about to read the questions that will end this 12-year relationship on national television.

Let's walk through it. Maury asks Patrick if he's ever had sexual contact with a stripper. The answer comes back: "That was a lie." Maury asks if he's ever been to a peep show. "That was a lie." Maury asks if the condoms in the car came from sleeping with another woman. "That was a lie." And finally, Maury asks if he hides his phone because he's cheating. "That was a lie." Four for four. A perfect score, if you're playing the worst game in the world.
